Happy New Year Everyone! Let’s hope it will be filled with lots of good things!

Today was the first day back to school for my Little Man. He was happy to go back especially to show off his new haircut (we had to nearly shave it off as a result of the dreaded L word, yes LICE!). We are over that now I am so happy to say!

I am happy too to be back in our routine. I am a little anxious for my Little Man as he was having a bit of trouble at school towards the end of last year (it is a little weird to say ‘last year’)… However, I am hopeful that all will be well especially as the school is being great about stepping in and helping. I like the Principal a lot.

My Little Lady is back at her daycare where she frequents about 3 days a week while I am at work (REAL work – not artsy at all – but I must say that I do enjoy the ‘conservative’ part of my working life as it adds a different element to it).

So while the Little People were not with me today, I was very productive and made an order for some new supplies. So happy about that! Love the anticipation of awaiting some new supplies with which I can create some new lovely jewellery. Here is a small infusion of colour for you to brighten your day.

We finished making the birds!

So going back to the start of school today. Jivan and I read together for about 20mins and it was a good beginning to our day especially as the book we read was by one of my favourite children’s writer and illustrator Lauren Child. I love Charlie and Lola. We read “I Am Too Absolutely Small For School“. Really enjoyed it!

Can you see Lola’s imaginary friend Soren Lorensen below? How sweet!

Now must dash. Thanks for having stopped by. Leave me a note of you like. Must put my legs in action to go pick up the Little People.

Enjoy the rest of your day!

Hope you had a wonderful Christmas Day!

This is a quick post to show you what we got up to so far in the countdown to 2011 – 3 days to go!

Christmas Day was pretty relaxed, especially as I did not do any cooking. H spent the morning cooking and then we enjoyed a steaming cup of Armenian coffee with cardamom. yum!

Nibbles were had.

Now this is something that really excited me actually on Christmas Eve. It is a present from a friend who made it for me to display my jewellery. I just love it and am very touched by the very thought of it, really! And the work that she put into it, and she works full time and has two kids! Thank you!

My Little Man got a Ukelele from his dad and they did some rocking together that same day. Just too sweet. I know H, ever the musician, would be chuffed if his son took up guitar or any other instrument for that matter.

We did some art with the Djeco Birds of Paradise Coloured Sand Kit. It was a present from some good friends and let me tell you it is a hit! Thank you!

I must say that the time had with my kids is getting better and better as the years progress. Not to say that I did not like spending time with them since their births. However, as they grow and start talking and understanding more it is such a joy to have conversations with them and to share a joke or two. We are having a great time with both the Little Man and Lady, but our Little Man is surpassing our Little Lady in speech (obviously!) and he wants an explanation for everything. And the most rewarding times are when he is actually listening and sucking it all in and he exudes pride and confidence when we let him make his own decisions within the limits that we set for him. Just priceless times we are living, really!

And talking about priceless… I have this angel on our mantelpiece. I love it. It brings me joy each time I look at it. It was a present from my sister when the Little Lady was born. I hope that you have your angel watching over you making sure you are safe, healthy and happy.

oh, and one last mention relating to my last post. The Polka Dott Cone Shaped Bunny is made by Mymimi. I think it must be sold out as I couldn’t find it on sale on her website… I need to confirm that it was from her though but I am pretty sure she made it.

Enjoy the last few days of 2010.

2011, I am ready!

I just came across this nativity set via Tangled Happy. Isn’t it just beautiful?

I think this is going to be my project for next year as I don’t think I can make it happen in time for tomorrow, but maybe for Armenian Christmas??

I love this community of sharing patterns and creativity. Such wonderful gifted individuals across this universe! Thank you!

Free downloads of the nativity set pattern if you are interested in making it. If you do take on this endeavour, I would love to see the result!

Wishing you all a WONDERFUL CHRISTMAS AND AN EVEN HAPPIER, CREATIVE AND PEACEFUL NEW YEAR!

Today was such a beautiful day in Vancouver. Sunny and crispy cold, just the way I like it!

While walking the little man to school, we noticed that the house just around the corner had changed its look. I had mentioned this house in this post a while back.

The round lanterns give the house this magical look – actually the entire street looks magical with these lanterns. And of course these are times when I really appreciated my neighbourhood, The Drive, and I am thankful to be living here amidst the creativity, passion and madness!

I will have to take pictures of the lanterns at night when they look the most magical.

Another great thing that I experienced today was my little man’s school assembly. It was so powerful to see these kids performing and to experience their learning process. They did so well and of course I am so proud (it was actually a good ending to a week of frustration with my little man as he has got in trouble several times at school for having altercations on the playground with the other kids – argghhh!).

It was also wonderful to see him get excited about giving gifts to his teachers and principal…

Hope you are on track with your gift buying/making and wrapping… It is a big job to undertake and can get quite overwhelming at times, don’t you think?

We had a fantastic craft sale – it was cosy, friendly, filled with great items and lots of people came.

Our table at the sale – Melina of Palomaria and I shared a table. It was great as our creations complemented each other and the table looked great!

Lots of people were interested in our jewellery – it was really sweet to have young girls ooing and aahing over them! It is quite satisfying to have your work appreciated because sometimes I am too close to it…

and here we are, Meli and I. We had a lot of fun together! Glad to have her as a friend.

Here is Meli’s work. Beautiful. You will have so much fun visiting Palomaria’s Etsy shop.

I want to thank all my friends who came to see me there and everyone who supported us in this sale.

I want to continue creating and slowly but surely I will. Time is the issue as with all mothers who juggle work, kids and home… however, there aren’t any deadlines to creating and so I will continue!

Around this time of the year I miss my family a lot. It gets colder out, the days get shorter and warmth, love and support are needed more. I am lucky though to have some family and good friends I can rely on and vice versa.

So, this week so far has been good. My little girl is turning 2 tomorrow and let me tell you she is right on cue for the terrible twos. My son wasn’t so much, he started a little later at three! However much it is challenging and sometimes my voice is cracking because of you know what, a moment of joy creeps in at the most unexpected times and I am thankful, oh so thankful for everything beautiful around me.

Look at this beauty Jivan created in his class – I took a picture because I love the colours but also for the title as “lighting and thunder” are words that I would use to describe my son, along with loving, smart and witty!

I donated a few earrings today to our friend Astra who is organising a silent auction at the St Vartan Armenian Church. Apparently there are LOTS of great items for grabs, so if you are into jewellery and accessories (as am I) please make your way to the church on November 27. It is free, includes hors d’eouvres and dessert. What else could a girl ask for? oh, they also have a few men’s items and all the proceeds goes to charity!

These are the earrings I donated

They are really pretty. I am very happy with how they turned out. Any feedback is welcome though!

All my senses were tickled today – apart from the eye candy above my taste buds took me back to my childhood. A little Armenian birdie told me that Jack at the Mediterranean Store on the Drive makes really good Bastirma. So off I went to Jack who suggested I get 100 grams to try. Try it I did and I tell you it was YUMMY! You have to be careful though not to eat it right before a first date as you will stink of garlic and the sort ;o)

Here is a picture for you – it doesn’t do its taste justice

Tomorrow is Remembrance Day and a holiday here in Canada…

I hope the end of your week will be filled with good tastes and laughter.

My hubbie was at a conference in Seattle this weekend and despite this our weekend was fun and may I say a little challenging…

So what did we do?

We picked lots of beautiful coloured leaves and used the stroller to carry them as of course the little lady wants nothing to do with the stroller… didn’t you know she is a big girl now, nearly 2… 2 this Thursday, Remembrance Day… well, how can we forget her birthday ever?

and we used them to make crafts…

We went out for a walk again in the afternoon and it was cold… just the weather for the little people to use their scarves… the little man’s was one made by my sister and the little lady’s scarf is one I crocheted last year – actually it was the first thing I made since taking up crocheting (I actually remember I used to crochet with my grandmother when I was little but I didn’t make this scarf then!).

Look at the colour – my absolute favourite colours, PURPLE and pinks!

I actually think I pick out clothes for her that I would wear myself, if only they had them in my size!

So this was all of Saturday and it was a good day albeit a little trying because my little people were being rowdy and well, acting like children! Our babysitter came in the evening, I knew the hubbie would be away so no date night but I thought I could use a couple of hours out of the house. A couple of our dear friends took me to East is East and it was just what I needed, good food and fantastic music accompanied by flamenco dancing. An infusion of fresh air and sound…

And now I will take you back to the start of our weekend when the little man brought home a new piece of art from his class with Jade at Arts Umbrella – I love it, all of it!

Hope your week will be filled with lovely colours and smiles!
