Happy New Year Everyone! Let’s hope it will be filled with lots of good things!

Today was the first day back to school for my Little Man. He was happy to go back especially to show off his new haircut (we had to nearly shave it off as a result of the dreaded L word, yes LICE!). We are over that now I am so happy to say!

I am happy too to be back in our routine. I am a little anxious for my Little Man as he was having a bit of trouble at school towards the end of last year (it is a little weird to say ‘last year’)… However, I am hopeful that all will be well especially as the school is being great about stepping in and helping. I like the Principal a lot.

My Little Lady is back at her daycare where she frequents about 3 days a week while I am at work (REAL work – not artsy at all – but I must say that I do enjoy the ‘conservative’ part of my working life as it adds a different element to it).

So while the Little People were not with me today, I was very productive and made an order for some new supplies. So happy about that! Love the anticipation of awaiting some new supplies with which I can create some new lovely jewellery. Here is a small infusion of colour for you to brighten your day.

We finished making the birds!

So going back to the start of school today. Jivan and I read together for about 20mins and it was a good beginning to our day especially as the book we read was by one of my favourite children’s writer and illustrator Lauren Child. I love Charlie and Lola. We read “I Am Too Absolutely Small For School“. Really enjoyed it!

Can you see Lola’s imaginary friend Soren Lorensen below? How sweet!

Now must dash. Thanks for having stopped by. Leave me a note of you like. Must put my legs in action to go pick up the Little People.

Enjoy the rest of your day!

xx

Hope you had a wonderful Christmas Day!

This is a quick post to show you what we got up to so far in the countdown to 2011 – 3 days to go!

Christmas Day was pretty relaxed, especially as I did not do any cooking. H spent the morning cooking and then we enjoyed a steaming cup of Armenian coffee with cardamom. yum!

Nibbles were had.

Now this is something that really excited me actually on Christmas Eve. It is a present from a friend who made it for me to display my jewellery. I just love it and am very touched by the very thought of it, really! And the work that she put into it, and she works full time and has two kids! Thank you!

My Little Man got a Ukelele from his dad and they did some rocking together that same day. Just too sweet. I know H, ever the musician, would be chuffed if his son took up guitar or any other instrument for that matter.

We did some art with the Djeco Birds of Paradise Coloured Sand Kit. It was a present from some good friends and let me tell you it is a hit! Thank you!

I must say that the time had with my kids is getting better and better as the years progress. Not to say that I did not like spending time with them since their births. However, as they grow and start talking and understanding more it is such a joy to have conversations with them and to share a joke or two. We are having a great time with both the Little Man and Lady, but our Little Man is surpassing our Little Lady in speech (obviously!) and he wants an explanation for everything. And the most rewarding times are when he is actually listening and sucking it all in and he exudes pride and confidence when we let him make his own decisions within the limits that we set for him. Just priceless times we are living, really!

And talking about priceless… I have this angel on our mantelpiece. I love it. It brings me joy each time I look at it. It was a present from my sister when the Little Lady was born. I hope that you have your angel watching over you making sure you are safe, healthy and happy.

oh, and one last mention relating to my last post. The Polka Dott Cone Shaped Bunny is made by Mymimi. I think it must be sold out as I couldn’t find it on sale on her website… I need to confirm that it was from her though but I am pretty sure she made it.

Enjoy the last few days of 2010.

2011, I am ready!

Yes I am totally swamped! Why, you might ask. Well, I don’t know (well, apart from two kids etc.). Usually, I am on top of things and I like to be that way but the little lady’s illness last week threw us a little out of whack. She is much better now and is in her lovely cuddly stage and wants mama all the time. Two is such a lovely age isn’t it?

My little people holding hands on the way home from school. Little sister does not want to hold anyone’s hand apart from her big brother’s. aaahhhh!

Our Christmas tree is up! It was a lot of fun decorating it with the little people.

And Mr and Mrs Clown are always together.

I was reading Tamara Taggart’s personal blog the other day and in this particular post she mentions buying fabric portraits of her children from Lori Joy Smith. I was really glad to come across this post as I hadn’t looked at Lori’s blog for ages. I have not met her in person but we have exchanged many emails in the past. I love Lori’s work and one day I too hope to own some of her artwork. Very talented lady!

And now to another talented lady and friend of mine, Dolores, who will entice you with her reviews of books, movies and TV shows. Check her blog out.

I am really looking forward to Christmas. There is a lot to do until that day but I cannot wait to see the little people’s faces light up when they open their presents and my husband’s face too actually as his presents will definitely be a lovely surprise to him.

Hope you are having a happy and healthy day/night wherever you are in the world.

I follow some blogs and wish I had more time to follow all the other great ones found out there! I love discovering lovely things and imagine my excitement at seeing these calendars in one of Erin’s – Collage Collage – posts.

I have been wanting to go into Erin’s store to browse and have a look at all the lovely things she has and maybe make a purchase or two. For me seeing, touching and experiencing lovely things make me happy instantly. There is beauty in this life and lots of it so why not enjoy it when we can?

So, through this post from Erin, I also discovered Poppytalk who also created the online market Poppytalk Handmade – fabulous! I wanted to apply for their boxing week and valentine market but alas, me not ready yet! But soon, soon….

I have been so busy with work, home and family lately (especially as the little lady has been ill for the best part of this week). Sniffles and coughs all around the house! I am excited though about creating more jewellery and have also signed up for a basic silversmithing course starting in January (my birthday present to me – you know, the 30 mark. ahem…)

Here’s some things that cheered me up this week:

Dolores modelling one of my designs.

My little man’s creation which I discovered one morning. He loves to draw and paint. In fact each morning he spends at least 45 mins doing just that before school. And, I am so happy to see that my favourite colours are influencing his palette!

And the cloth shopping bags I got at the craft sale I took part in. I don’t remember who made them, forgot to pick up a card of hers… but they are so well made and bags which I would rather keep to use in the summertime.

Now must go and start thinking of making some chicken soup for the little ones and the hubbie.

Vancouver is COLD, very COLD! Everyone is talking about it as we are not used to this weather here. It has a bite and if not dressed appropriately, I can honestly say that you will suffer!

I am sitting cosily in our old, drafty beautiful home with the fire roaring up the chimney and me looking forward to a day of running errands and some jewellery making tomorrow.

This past weekend was busy and we saw some good friends three days in a row which was a real treat. Little man got to play with some of his favourite friends and got a bit over excited I must say. It was a little challenging trying to calm him down… and little lady is really enjoying the company of all the little people around her.

Little man has been constantly talking about his school friend and having a play date with him. This school friend, MC, has already been over once and little man has been wanting to go over to MC’s house for a play date. He could not stop talking about him on Sunday, so much so that we ended up seeing them in Costco of all places… another school mate was there, S, and the three boys took a ride on the cart with some hearty laughs…

and yes I do go to Costco from time to time… but I am disliking it more and more these days especially if I find myself there on a weekend. It is CRAZY and not fun at all!

Look at the snow in our front yard – well trodden over by the little people. Oh, what fun!

The lovely fire that is heating up my freezing feet…

The beautiful late afternoon light while I am pushing the little people in the swing (not today’s early evening sky though, mind!)

and lastly, I just want to share these beautiful mini cameo earrings (the cameos need to face each other though! :o) – I just love them!

The craft sale is this Friday. It is exciting and daunting at the same time. I hope it will be successful for all!

Hope to see you there!  If you are on Facebook, this is their page.

xx

ps Melina will be taking part in the sale with me!

After a stroll with the little lady with her singing her ABCs, I am back home, she is asleep and what better time to quickly post a couple of pictures of my new creations. I spent most of the day yesterday making new earrings, bracelets and necklaces. I would love to share all of them with you here but I must work on posting some up on Etsy first. The picture taking and listing on Etsy is a long process; how do you all do it? Any tips?

I visited the Flea Market here in Vancouver on Sunday and found some jewellery pieces which I will be sure to incorporate in my designs.

The Flamenco Rose Necklace.

My Charm Necklace (made with flea market findings). yay!

And the ever loyal Cameo Necklace.

What do you think?

It felt like a long weekend with Thursday being Remembrance Day…

My little lady is two now

My little man made these great glasses (a bit like John Lennon) at Arts Umbrella

I bought these beautiful ceramic buttons at the Emily Carr Student Sale – they are pieces of art, it would be a shame to put them on clothes… They are by local Vancouver designer Gabriellephant.

And I am so glad to see Mary has began writing on her blog, Egg of the Day! Mary is the owner of Little Nest, a lovely spot just around the corner from our house.

I’ll be back in the week to share some new jewellery designs with you.

take care

xx
