I just came across this nativity set via Tangled Happy. Isn’t it just beautiful?

I think this is going to be my project for next year as I don’t think I can make it happen in time for tomorrow, but maybe for Armenian Christmas??

I love this community of sharing patterns and creativity. Such wonderful gifted individuals across this universe! Thank you!

Free downloads of the nativity set pattern if you are interested in making it. If you do take on this endeavour, I would love to see the result!

I think I am ready for the craft sale which starts later on today – yay!

I want to share a few things that put a smile on my face this week…

We made vegan one bit brownies – so yummy – recipe taken from Cara Roth’s blog

I had to keep my neck warm this week with all this cold weather…

A book that lifts my spirits…

It is called “I will make miracles” by Susie Morgenstern, illustrated by

Jiang Hong Chen – It is truly magical looking towards a better world, an ideal world!

And, I finally decided on how to package my creations…

I had some tags made at MOO, they did a fabulous job! What do you think?

and a necklace I picked up during my flea market trip…

And here is a taster of what will be on sale at the craft sale…

and here is a reminder of time and place…

see you then!

My hubbie was at a conference in Seattle this weekend and despite this our weekend was fun and may I say a little challenging…

So what did we do?

We picked lots of beautiful coloured leaves and used the stroller to carry them as of course the little lady wants nothing to do with the stroller… didn’t you know she is a big girl now, nearly 2… 2 this Thursday, Remembrance Day… well, how can we forget her birthday ever?

and we used them to make crafts…

We went out for a walk again in the afternoon and it was cold… just the weather for the little people to use their scarves… the little man’s was one made by my sister and the little lady’s scarf is one I crocheted last year – actually it was the first thing I made since taking up crocheting (I actually remember I used to crochet with my grandmother when I was little but I didn’t make this scarf then!).

Look at the colour – my absolute favourite colours, PURPLE and pinks!

I actually think I pick out clothes for her that I would wear myself, if only they had them in my size!

So this was all of Saturday and it was a good day albeit a little trying because my little people were being rowdy and well, acting like children! Our babysitter came in the evening, I knew the hubbie would be away so no date night but I thought I could use a couple of hours out of the house. A couple of our dear friends took me to East is East and it was just what I needed, good food and fantastic music accompanied by flamenco dancing. An infusion of fresh air and sound…

And now I will take you back to the start of our weekend when the little man brought home a new piece of art from his class with Jade at Arts Umbrella – I love it, all of it!

Hope your week will be filled with lovely colours and smiles!

Hello all you lovely people out there!

Do you remember when I mentioned here that my friend Meli and I will be taking part in a craft sale at the end of November – yes it is true and here is the funky flyer!

and remember about the crochet flowers that I was making…

They are really a joy to make and pretty quick – I have made them into brooches and if I get the time to make more then I will be selling them at the sale and at a very reasonable price too! I love the colours – these were made with a yarn that has silver sparkle in it – very beautiful.

And of course, getting ready for the sale (don’t ask me where I get the time to do all this because I don’t have the time to do it but as it gives me so much joy I make time to do it – does this make sense at all?)… so going back to the beginning of this sentence… In the midst of getting ready for my sale, I want to share the following picture with you…

Yes, I agree, beauties aren’t they? I love them so much!

Anyhow, must get on and deal with all the things that need to be dealt with.

be well

It has been a busy past few days for me and the family – yes, Halloween!!!  I grew up in London, England so I wasn’t really used to Halloween and I don’t know if I am now but you know what… it is so much fun watching kids, mine and others, get so excited about dressing up and going trick-or-treating… and here are some pictures of our weekend…

My Spiderman at his school parade…

The little people at the Halloween party at the Armenian school on Saturday…

and the little man playing around with the camera…

and of course I must include a photo of a beautiful flower shop I happened to pass by at the weekend! Aren’t they gorgeous looking?

Sunday was not really a good day for me… I was feeling completely down on energy and a little ill. So the hubbie took the kids for a few hours and guess what I did? No, I did not fold laundry, nor did I clean the house, nor did I do paperwork!!! Instead I lounged on the couch and watched two films – yes TWO films!!! Can you believe it? but I don’t want you to read about my rest, I want to tell you about this wonderful film I watched at the advice of the hubbie… and I loved it and I am sure you will love it too. It is called between the folds, a documentary about origami – it was just magical and beautiful… Have a look:

It is so wonderful seeing the work of artists knowing that they have spent years and years perfecting their techniques. I love the wackiness of some of the people in the documentary and it leaves you with the feeling of possibilities… anything is possible…

I want to share the flowers I am crocheting with you but haven’t really had a moment to photograph them today – I will share them with you tomorrow…

see you then!

I did promise to tell you about a house that has intrigued me as of late but I will start with a couple of lovely moments we had with the little people this past weekend – carving pumpkins…

The little people had fun and my husband too – not sure who had the most fun though… then we roasted the pumpkin seeds which turned out scrummy…

and the item that I love using the most these days while using my oven are my new oven mitts!!!

I love them – they are so sweet aren’t they with all the birdies??? I tell you I have a thing for flowers and birds, can’t get enough of them. So much so that I end up buying the famous Ikea tray each time I visit the store with the thought that I will give it as a present to a dear friend because in my world colourful birdies simply brighten up my day!

Oh, you want to know where I got the mitts from? You will never guess! Why Etsy of course, where else? The shop is called Collisionware – I am sure you will love browsing through her items. The mitt set I purchased is VERY well made and I am sure will last me for a long while. I love to know that it is handmade and I supported a creative artist discovered on Etsy.

Ok, finally I get to tell you about the house… thanks for being so patient.

There is this house round the corner from us which I noticed first last year as they had hung beautiful round paper lanterns outside in the spirit of Christmas. I loved how magical and dreamlike they looked especially when the weather was so dreary out. A while later I noticed that they had taken the lanterns down and hung birdhouses instead…

I wanted to photograph these birdhouses (which I did of course) and off I went knocking at their door to ask if it would be ok if I took photos of their outdoors decor. ‘Of course’ they replied and when asked the reason for this decor they simply said that it was just for fun… They did say that it takes a lot of work to change the theme which I would imagine it to be anything but easy and little work. Anyway, I passed by the house again just recently (It is in on the way to my little man’s school so quite hard to avoid) and could you imagine my joy when I saw this…

and this…

aren’t they just too cute????

Can you see them there just hanging out?

Well, these are the things that have rocked my world lately – I have also been crocheting lovely flowers which I will share with you next time… and I finally wrote to O Magazine – Yes, I am a big fan of Oprah but moreso her magazine, just love reading the essays by brilliant writers and I came across one which urged me to write to the opinions section of O… more on this next time…

until then, stay well, warm and beautiful as always!

ps – do drop me a line to tell me what has rocked your world lately – would love to hear it!

I don’t know what has happened lately – it is BUSY, very BUSY… Little man started school, as per my last post, and instead of life easing up a little it has created the opposite effect. However, we are happy and healthy and that is what is important isn’t it?

We just celebrated Thanksgiving in Canada and it was a long weekend spent with loved ones; family and friends. I was really touched by a phone call from a friend who was at another friend’s house on Vancouver Island and she had to call me to ask me to post some more pictures of my crochet as they were talking about crochet and other forms of creativity and they wanted to see my work. It instills a little more confidence in me when someone else appreciates my work, don’t we all want to have people admire our work and say nice things about them – I love doing that about other’s work.

So, Alix and Chantey, here are some pictures of my crochet which I don’t think I posted on this blog yet and if I already have then please forgive me. (btw, Chantey is a great artist – more on this lady later – and Alix runs Green Room Yoga in Vancouver)

Crochet bag – from Attic24

I think I have shown you this scarf before – again from Attic24

Some of my own creations – neck warmers

and finally, a cushion cover!

I will be back soon with lots of new jewellery – I am having great fun making them, well at least when I find the time which is not very often these days and her is a sneak preview!

Stay well until we next meet!

I was reminded today of all the things that I am thankful for in my life and here are a few of them:

I can be creative and admire my creations!

I am able to see beauty and colour and be thankful to them for making my heart skip! (Of course, the scarf on the left is Lucy’s creation)

This week has been one where I have felt pretty disorganised and the scattered toys around the house don’t make it any better… at times it is frustrating but today I tried to find some humour in it…

then of course there is the super cuteness of the little lady…

and my little man’s artwork!

So, yes, there are lots of things to be thankful for… what are the things you are thankful for?

Yes, we went to Cirque du Soleil today – me, the hubbie and the little man. I can tell you that it was magical, pure magic! Many years ago, I fear to remember how many, I went to Allegria (if I am not mistaken) in London and it was fabulous then and it is still is. Those bodies doing such amazing things, I would urge everyone to go and see it just once… it is expensive but worth every single penny!

So, that is one thing that made me happy today (apart from a great morning with my kids as the hubs is working all weekend!) – I have had a sore lower back the last few days, well actually since sitting on the floor of the library a few days ago with two little men and a little lady, reading them many books… I noticed this lower back soreness straight after getting off the floor there and it hasn’t left me every since… so this is one thing that is dampening my mood as it makes me feel like I am getting old and my body cannot accommodate certain things… and the only thing that alleviates this mood is when I am being creative…

And now that I am on the note of creativity, let me share a few things with you…

I think I have nearly finished Lucy’s version of the Ripple Blanket, I am having so much fun crocheting it – here is a close up look of it all bundled up…

What do you think?

And I have been having fun making some more vintage earrings – I have also made a pendant which I will share with you soon… and now for the earrings, oooohhh so exciting, I love them each and every one!

These are some naughty angels!

We all have Blooming Secrets, don’t we?

This is my Black Rose…

What do you think? Aren’t they lovely?

I am just playing with it now and figuring out what my style is – the thing is that you see similar items with all the jewellery suppliers so the key is to find someone or somewhere where there will be one or two original stones or settings etc. I chose the above beads and cabochons because I would wear them myself – I cannot make anything that I would not wear myself…

I am really loving putting all the pieces together – I have to mention that I have dabbled in jewellery making on and off for a few years now but after discovering Tamar and Divine Rose on Etsy and being inspired by their work not to mention all the great artists over there, I feel like maybe I can do something more with it… but for now creating some earrings that I enjoy to wear all the time or can give as a gift to a friend, that is more than sufficient and just wonderful!

aaahhh, and now it is time that I put my head on this lovely pillow of mine and close my eyes to travel to the Kingdom of Nod.

Lazy Sunday

After a hard week, Sunday has proven to be a relaxing day as it should be! I have really welcomed the lack of sunshine today although now it is peeping out through the clouds now and then.

I have been crocheting a blanket which pattern I got from the wonderful Lucy at Attic24 – it’s called the Neat Ripple Blanket and I am so pleased with how it has turned out – Needless to say I will be sharing it with you pretty soon!

In the meantime, here are some of the crocheting I have been doing in the last little while – I am now working on some creations of my own which I will share with you all.

This is a bag which pattern I got again from Lucy at Attic24 – actually the next couple of projects are from her – I love her work and it inspires me to create my own!

Love this scarf – it was really fun to work on!

I made some neck warmers – my own creations! Aren’t they lovely?

A pillow cover! love it!

And finally a tray that I was introduced to by Lucy and I adore it so much that I went and bought many from Ikea to give to friends. It just makes me happy to look at, simply happy!

Hope you enjoyed this post! I know I did!

bye for now
